They say you never appreciate what youve got until its gone and, in the case of people who got a bit sick of The Eagles hogging all the air time in the late 1970s, that is just sooooo correct. The Eagles were absolutely everywhere. On radio as you drove, at every school party, on television rock shows - they were unavoidable. To say they began to pall is an understatement, but looking back it is hard to see why. The music was terrific, the vocals ahead of any of their contemporaries, and the guitar work … aaah, the guitar work was incomparable. It has taken 20 years and a much-repeated viewing of the DVD Eagles: Hell Freezes Over to realise what a complete bunch of duffers we were to get sick of such a great band and can only put it down to teenage idiocy or tall-popp...
